Fifteen minute oral history with Ross Farnham, who first arrived in Bend in 1912 and would go on to become district attorney of Deschutes County, city attorney of Bend, city recorder of Bend, and a library board member for many years. Ross discusses being lured West from his home in North Dakota by a land scheme, finishing his education in Oregon, and settling in Bend in 1912. Ross discusses arriving in Bend in an open Cadillac car driven across the desert from Lakeview. Ross also discusses climbing Pilot Butte the first day he was here, practicing law in early days in Bend, the arrival of the railroads and the mills, and the splitting of Deschutes County from Crook County.
