Fifteen minute oral history with Lloyd S. Blakely, who first arrived in Bend in 1912 when his father went to work for Brooks Scanlon. Lloyd discusses early logging in Bend, early fires and firefighting, early schools, childhood recreation including skating on Mirror Pond and sledding on Overturf Butte, and early Bend entertainment including traveling Chautaqua and Toby tent shows. Interview conducted by Kessler Cannon with KBND in 1953 as part of an oral history series with the Deschutes County Pioneers. Originally broadcast on September 6, 1953.
