Fifteen minute oral history with John R. Fryrear, who was one of the oldest participants in the series having been born in 1870. John discusses first arriving in Central Oregon to homestead with his family when he was thirteen years old in 1883. John also discusses voting at the Sisters school house, his own homestead, raising sheep, the arrival of the railroads, working as a surveyor, early roads, and a big snow in 1884. Interview conducted by Kessler Cannon with KBND in 1953 as part of an oral history series with the Deschutes County Pioneers. Originally broadcast on June 28, 1953.
