Fifteen minute oral history with J. D. Donovan, who first arrived in Central Oregon in 1911 and bought a ranch in the Prineville area. Donovan then operated the Lumbermen’s Hospital (1916) on Broadway Ave. Donovan discusses the 1918 flu epidemic in Bend, when the Amateur Athletic Club became a makeshift hospital and patients were treated with quinine, camphorated oil, and moonshine whiskey.
