Ruth discusses contrasts between Albany and Bend in the early days, arriving via horse team and wagon over the Santiam Pass, early churches in Bend, early schoolwork, the arrival of the railroads, a memorable Christmas Party at the old Vandervert homestead, and walking trips up Pilot Butte.
